quinta dos correias – algarve wine tasting notes

2007 Fuzeta Tinto
Vinho Regional Algarve
The entry wine of the Quinta dos Correias is made from Cabernet-Sauvignon, Castelão and Tinta Roriz, it was matured for eight months in French Barriques. Fruity and ripe Cabernet nose, perfectly integrated toast. On the palate the wine shows opulent but still elegant fruit with hints of licorice, soft tannins. This is fruity companion for your dish of red meat or grilled fish or poultry. The Fuzeta Tinto 2007 won the bronze medal at the Wine Masters Challenge 2009. Tasted on 08.03.2010,  rating: ***

2005 Terras da Luz Reserva Tinto
Tavira DOC
This wine is made from Castelão and Touriga-Nacional grapes, maturation was made in Barriques of French Oak for 15 months. Ruby garnet color with violet reflexes. Deep and vibrant nose of red and black berries and distinct notes of vanilla and toast from the cask. On the palate the wine shows adequate volume and consistently the aromas of the nose, the tannins are still young and crisp, nevertheless the wine is already harmonic with integrated oak aroma and of a good depth.  Nice finish of medium lenght. Even if the wine is not to complex and rural in a positive sense it is a good soloist and accompanies grilled meat, steak or dry sausage or Jamón Ibérico.  Tasted on 08.03.2010, rating ****
